BIO
Michael Kern is a longtime Democratic leader and grassroots organizer with decades of experience in national, state, and local politics. He began his career working on Dick Durbin’s first congressional campaign and later served in the Illinois General Assembly.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University in 1976, a Master of Public Administration from University of Illinois in 1982, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Drake University in 2024.
Since moving to the Des Moines area, Michael has been active in Iowa’s caucuses and campaigns, serving as a delegate for Hillary Clinton and helping elect Cindy Axne. He has also served as Chair of the Southeast Dallas County Democrats and 1st Vice Chair of the Dallas County Democrats Central Committee.
Michael is running for Dallas County Supervisor to promote responsible growth, improve infrastructure, and strengthen local communities.
